This is a wiki (editable web page) to organise cooking for the CUHWC Seathwaite trip. The kitchen is well equipped, with a double oven and grill, electric and gas hobs, two microwaves, fridge and full crockery, utensils and cutlery.
Click edit at the top to change the text (you’ll need to be logged in to your account on the website first – click here to register if you don’t have one). You can either suggest a meal idea or join one of the existing ones for any number of days, and you’re obviously also welcome to sort yourself out (move your name to ‘Independent’). Please remove your name from the ‘Not yet signed up for a meal on [this day]’ list too once you’re in a group or have decided to cook alone. The person who suggests the meal is responsible for arranging the ingredients — everyone else in the group should bring money on the trip to pay for their share, and expect to help with the preparation and washing up.
There is a small shop in Seatoller, as well as a large Booths supermarket available in Keswick, a 20 minute drive away, if you would like to buy extra food during the five days of the trip, as well as a Morrisons and Sainsbury’s in Penrith. The Keswick Booths and Co-op were badly flooded a few weeks ago and still don't have their full range available, so Penrith is better for stocking up on groceries.
Timetable
Meal suggestions by Christmas (25th) evening. Finalise groups by just before New Year (29th) so the person suggesting the meal knows how much they have to buy and has a couple of days to do the shopping.
Make sure you have enough space in your car/transport to carry your shopping!
Note that the club provides biscuits, tea, coffee and milk (enough for cereal and hot drinks, but not for making vats of custard, for example).
